It would be wise to refer to the -29 and -34 manuals for complete and correct timing.
In short it's pretty simple.
Bring the number 1 cylinder to TDC on compression stroke.
The timing mark on crank pulley and marker should line up.
Remove all ignition wires from plugs
Remove distributor from engine
Remove distributor cap
Note position of rotor point
It should be pointing towards 7 oclock.
Carefully remvove the intermediate shaft and relocate it 180 degrees.
Renstall dstributor. Rotor point should now point towards 1 oclock
That should correct the basic timing issue.
The correct firing order is 1342.
Number 1 is the upper right wire.
Reconnect the gnition wires accordingly
You will have to swap wires for correct length in order fir them to properly reach..
Proper timing valve adjustment still has to be done for correct operation.
Hope my explanation helps and doesnt confuse the issue.

Fil, That is the shaft you see directly down in the hole in the block correct?

Yes , it's about 3 inches long.
The top will only mate one way on base of distributor.
There is a notch indicatong the correct orientation but unfortunately it will go in either way.

Hi,
two days ago I called a good friend of mine who has several mutts to restore and I asked him if he had the vent lines of the distributor.
Fortunately he gave me almost all the pieces and I already have them installed. I just had to make two connections.
Thank you all for your advice and for your help.
If it were not for you, my mutt would still go without vent lines.

Looks good, Just curious, I do not see a fuel pump in the normal location. What are you using for a fuel pump?

I use an external electric fuel pump but I have the original pump and I maybe install in the future

Hi ,as rick and fil says,
I have finally taken my A2 to the mechanic this morning to do the correct timing as you explain.
I have seen that in all mutt motors the wire of cylinder 1 is located upper right. My previous mechanic started by putting the wire from cylinder 1 down left. How and why could he do it? he kept the correct order 1-3-4-2. The engine went quite well but not perfect.
Starting in that way the engine could work well?
In a few days I will have it fixed and I will tell you how it works. Thanks for your help

Rearranging the ignition wires is to be done Afer you reorient the distributor correctly.
