Direction indicators

Unread post by 5amp » August 29th, 2017, 8:50 am

Having trouble with my direction indicators on my 1966 M151A1 ! Has all original spartan unit and distribution box connected to a brand new loom.
It worked fine until last week, you can hear the distribution box clicking and the light flashed on the spartan direction indicator but the front and
rear lamps aren't blinking ! any ideas ?
Cheers, Pete

First the obvious, have you checked the bulbs? Don't laugh, I have done that myself. Next, be sure there is not power to the light and maybe the grounds are bad at the lights. And lastly since you do hear it clicking we will assume the flasher unit is good then it could be the main light switch. TRY Holding the lock off and run the switch back and forth through the whole range a few times. This will clean off the contacts inside and could restore the lights. does not always work but sometimes yo get lucky. If this is the old breadbox style flasher unit on the floor I would go over ALL of the connections there also to be sure none have come loose.

Many thanks for the advice, I did check all the bulbs firstly and found them all ok ! I'll give the switch a good going over and report back on the results
