Head gasket sealant

Unread post by Motorcityman » September 8th, 2017, 11:46 pm

Service manual calls for a head gasket sealant, it also states to use the sealant on the head bolts. I bought a can of Permatex "Copper Spray-A-gasket Hi-temp sealant" Do I spray it on the head bolts too?? Thanks, Joe.

I don't think any of the head bolts go into the water jacket. I know for a fact that most of them are blind holes because I always run a bottoming tap into them. I have found many that were not tapped fully. I did not use any sealant on mine but if you prefer to do so what I use is Permatex thread sealant, it is made just for that purpose. Don't use the copper spray.
