M Series Modification (DISTRIBUTOR) EDIT / UPDATE

This Modification will allow one to run civilian Plug Wires & Spark Plugs off of the original 24V Distributor. Cut to the length per cylinder. You will need to trim a bit off from the outer shield of the end that fits into distributor. Select the boot you desire. Will need to push in as far by hand then drive on home by taping it in with a small hammer and a small pocket flat tip screw driver.
Note: if you have a spare housing and cap you can revert back if you want.
Parts needed:
1 set of plug wires -
OMNI SPARK / 9998
Available @

1 set of spark plugs-
ACDELCO / R43S
Available @
O'REILLY

1 set of Distributor Wire Terminal Ends
Motorcraft / 5301

why? Original wires are still available, what might dry out are the plugs

Horst,

Why? Look at it from this angle - The benefit of having an adaptor such as this is.... it means there will be more proper wires and plugs for the rest of us while the other guys switch over to civilian kit. I think that's a good thing, don't you?

well, that is a new way looking at it, I like it :)

I have a set of NOS wires on my engine, I am afraid they will outlast me. I also still have one set of new 2245 plugs, not sure but they are probably good for another 30.000 miles ? The truck has now around 4.000 miles since new, if I keep driving it like this, I will get at least 15-20 more years out of it, probably more than I need.

Plugs are an issue, now that I have the M37 it also use the 2245 plugs. That one is much easier to civilianize though since the engine was used in civilian vehicles for many years.

I designed this MOD for several reasons. 1. Reduce maintenance cost. 2. Trouble shooting / timing. 3. Save the original for shows / events. 4. Daily use. & 5. Emergency when away from home. I just keep adapters in a plastic case / prescription bottle because the wires and plugs available at most automotive stores.

Thanks for the Koodo's M3a1. I 'am and no one can discourage me but me if it don't work. I'm the type of person that when I have a vision, I try and make it happen. If it is a success then Koodo's to me. If someone wants to buy I first have to figure out the cost. The pictures here is the first version and soon as it is done and complete I will work on the second version. How I will sell them is by exchange only. Good Usable Distributor Cap Housing, Distributor Cap and 4 Spark Plug Wires (can be damage as long as the ends are in good shape). It will take about 2 to 3 weeks + /- a week because I have to order in certain supplies that's not readily available locally. So start looking around November / December time frame if I put up for sale which means the MOD is a go.

The way I see this is for the options it presents. Maybe if Bubba has options, that former military vehicle he's gotten his hands on won't be so messed up by the time he's done with it.

Maybe it will be easier for one of us to bring an old truck back to life where it sits and drive it out of the hole it was left forgotten in. Options are good.

I've seen a lot of crazy stuff offered for cars and trucks; stuff that made no sense at all. One has only to look at a JC Whitney catalog to know that. But these are a good idea.

I think there is a high likelihood that most of the die-hard MV fanatics won't be using them because we know where the right stuff is. But Bubba and the general public? Oh yeah...they're gonna buy 'em. If you get them marketed to that crowd, they'll sell alright.
