Additional rear axle

Unread post by bazookajoe » September 25th, 2017, 7:46 am

I am toying with the idea of building a dune buggy using all mutt parts and was wondering if i made it 6 wheel drive with the addition of another mutt differential, would the rearmost axle turn in the correct direction being driven by the axle in front of it?

Yes, it would be the same as the stumpjumper mutts built by Murray and others. They actually built one one the military as a prototype but it was never used. You KNOW I will have to come up and see that project!

Ford made the XM-408 prototype. I'd like to see a 8x8 HEMTT-Mutt.

I don't think I would wan't to build it on the factory unibody! And man would that steering geometry be a nightmare to design!
