Solder on Coil Contacts

Unread post by bazookajoe » September 28th, 2017, 10:00 pm

I have noticed on some coils that there is solder on the ends of the screwed connections where the plus and minus contacts attach and was wondering why it was there and what its purpose is. Does it indicate a higher quality of manufacture. I have noticed it on some U.S. made coils and some foreign made ones....any ideas guys?????

Could very well be that the wire comes up through the terminal and is soldered at the end.

I don't think so, I have seen many of those terminals broken of and they break clean with no wires inside. No idea on the solder, never noticed it.
