front of ROPS removal
Its is possible to remove the front of the ROPS only.. to access the floor panel? I have some rust thru spots. Debating repairing these spots or replacing the floor panels. I have the weirdest problems. My front cross member was packed full of sand. As was the panel under the gas tank. It rusted out and I am working on replacing it. I guess Im gonna try to shoot water in the channels in the unibody then shoot some frame coating in them.
Re: front of ROPS removal
I was able to access driver's floor area for replacement work . Had to unbolt ROPS "feet" from floor at both front and middle attachment points on both sides of M151A2. Pushed ROPS frame slightly upward with 2x4 and small jack enough to remove front "feet" from ROPS. Gave me just enough room to work. I recall it was a bit of job.
Re: front of ROPS removal
I would think if you unbolt the feet and then pull the pins from the top bars and drive the front part forward a bit to disengage the front bars it will come right out.Probably have to loosen the bolts at the middle feet also.

Re: front of ROPS removal
ok thanks for the replies.. i cannot understand how the heck it got packed with sand. I Bought a little borescope camera that connects to a smart phone today to look inside the frame. it was like $10 had good reviews. it has LED lights a zoom and a button to take a picture.
Re: front of ROPS removal
Driving through muddy water will put sand in places you did not know there were places! (picture getting wiped out at the beach by a wave you did not see coming, where is the sand? )

When I bought my 151, the channels were packed with clay(ya there were rust holes there too), took some effort to remove)

I sure wish I had caught it earlier my jeep looked perfect.. got under it got to poking around under the gas tank and kept finding rotten metal.. pulled the gas tank and you could scoop the muddy sand out . I would encourage everyone to remove your tank and take a look under the gas tank. I got lucky and some guys from Ft. Campbell cut the floor out of one on a firing range for me.

Re: front of ROPS removal
the last A2 I owned had little plastic plugs all in the body. Anyone know what the military used to rust proof the mutts?
