Fording Kit Adaptation

Unread post by bazookajoe » October 10th, 2017, 7:40 am

I recently acquired a partial fording kit that is for an a-2 but was wondering is there any reason i cant use it on an a-1? Is the reason for the line that is run to the master cylinder to put vacuum or pressure in it? Does the operation of the fording valve put pressure or vacuum to this location? I dont have the complete kit but i can adapt pieces to supplant the few missing parts i dont have.

It does not put pressure or vacuum to the master cylinder, it is just a vent to the air cleaner. The kit for the A1 and the A2 are the same kit.

Yup, drain the water out of them afterwards.  Seriously, In the manuals for any of the vehicles you will find that it calls for a complete service asap after fording. There is no provision for the transmission or steering box either. And if the vehicle had been driven for a while before diving in then the hot wheel bearings are going to cool in a hurry and suck water into them also.
