Rear harness A1 and A2

Unread post by Motorcityman » October 25th, 2017, 11:54 am

I'm looking to use an A2 rear harness for my A1.

Are the wire numbers the same between the two? I realize there are 2 extra wires for the fuel pump and fuel meter. Do the trailer receptacle wires match? Also the turn lights and brake lights, I've never seen the back of an A2 composite, are there 3 wires like on an A1?

I found two schematics that comore the A1 and A2 and there are 4 wires on the composite light, the extra most likely being the blackout light. My main question is are the plugs as simple as plug and play in the two different models?

I think you will have to add a short jumper to the blacklight stop lamp and then supply power to the in tank fuel pump if you still have one, I believe composites are 4 wire.

As far as the wire numbers, yes, they are the same throughout the M-series. Here is a list of them

Bringing up an old thread. Pulled a new a2 harness through for the rear. Have two stop lights for the back instead of the correct stop on driver and blackout on passenger. No third BO light since this is a straight. That leaves a 23 wire dangling on each rear side which I plan to plug. For the trailer receptacle all of the numbers match up except I have only one 24 coming from the harness and two receptacle plugs left to attach... a 24-483 and a 24-484. One is to A and one is to C so it appears that I need to connect 24 to both of these. Receptacle was recently purchased online as NOS for an m151. It does not have a wire in H or 490. What would I not be powering up missing the H wire? Blackout clearance? Is that even necessary on the 416 or 100?

I doubt I'll ever hook a trailer up but my OCD tendencies get the best of me sometimes.

Circuit 490 is Clearance Light Blackout Feed. Large trailers have side clearance lights with a blackout light section in the assembly or as a separate unit like these https://www.ebay.com/itm/Set-4-WWII-Mil ... 3645342733
They are not used on the 1/4 ton trailers so you won't need to massage your OCD tendencies.
