Inner Front Shock Washer Source.

Unread post by brandon98 » November 18th, 2017, 10:29 am

Anyone have a lead on the following part: 10950858-2?

It’s the INNER shock washer for the front shocks. It’s a cup washer about 2mm thick with a 7/16” hole and 1 1/2” in diameter. The outer -1 washer is a 3/8” hole and is made out of steel so hard that cobalt drill bits and die grinders dull against it, so just drilling out the washers isn't an option. I'd use the old washers except the previous owner had fitted a different shock with 3/8" rods instead of 7/16".

Here's the part I'm looking for: (marked in the diagram)

If anyone has any spares or takeoffs, I'd gladly take them off your hands for a reasonable price. Again, they've got to have 7/16" holes. Or if anyone has a drop-in application of a shock/strut washer from another vehicle, I'd appreciate it.

They should be the same size as Chevy rear shock bushing washers for pickups. I probably have some but they will be in a 120 lb. grease drum full of shock and suspension hardware from when I had my shop. I'll glance through there and see if anything is near the top.

Rick,

Thanks for that lead!

Any years to recommend looking? Most of my good auto parts countermen have retired and the new ones just tap on computers and need a year/make/model.

The idea of trying to bust shocks of junkyard trucks without air tools at the pick-n-pull doesn't sound fun....

Not really, Most of the shock washers I have dealt with are not hardened. I never tried to redrill a M-151 washer.

Good thing you didn't! The -1 washer was probably in the tool steel realm of hardened armored steel. A cobalt bit got a groove cut into it. A die grinder got smooth, and two turns with a barrel reamer told me it was a no go.

I've tried FLMV and they don't have any. AJP and Rapco haven't gotten back to me yet.

I'lll head up to the auto parts store and ask about Chevrolet truck bushing kits.....

I ended up finding the washers at Southeast Equipment Company in Augusta, GA. Website: http://www.militarypartscenter.com/

As of 22 November 2017, there were eight (8) of the "big hole" washers in stock there. For the record, the hole is 15/32.

Perhaps this can help someone else...

So a 1/2" shock washer will work. That is a 3/4" nut so most lower shock washers will probably work if you have one with a 3/4" nut.
