Correct windshield question

Postby 1943Willysgpw » November 28th, 2017, 2:40 pm

Can anyone post a picture of the correct windshield for a 1962 M151? Or post pictures of the differences between the various models? I do not think mine is correct. It is a one piece glass with no middle bar. Thank you.

I don't have any pictures but I can tell you that the windshield for the A-2 is one piece. The frame for an A-2 has a removable access panel on the outside for access to the wiper linkage. Also, I've read on this forum that the A-2s use different hinges and rubber seals than the A-1s, but I can't confirm that. An A-2 frame, supposedly, will fit on an A-1 if you replace the hinges. You might have an A-2 windshield BUT.. the previous owner may have had the two-piece A-1 glass replaced with a one-piece windshield.
I hope this helps. By the way, mine is a '64 A-1.

The hinges don't make any difference as long as you have the matching top and bottom halves. The A2 gasket is a bit thicker than the A1 gasket but that is all that is available now. If you do not have electric wipers and a front access panel then you have an early windshield. The one to match your year would only have four defroster vents instead of eight. It would also have metal hoops at the outside top for the windshield to rest on when down on the hood as opposed to the rubber bumpers of the later styles.

I may have asked the question wrong. I have a straight 151. All the M151's I see have a two glass windshield. Mine is one continuous piece of glass. I have no access port for wipers. Any ideas?

I just realized something. If I read you correctly, the two piece still sits into a one piece frame. The middle divider is removable?

Bingo. The center divider is just two pieces of metal and a gasket. A lot of people replace the two with one. Show us a picture of the front of the frame and the defroster vents and we can tell you what you have.

My wife has learned that she has to drive anytime we go out of town, so I can look in every yard and field we pass, I have the OD illness and I love it, about to start another building(30'x60') so everything can move under roof. :D I will be attending my youngest sons college graduation two weeks from today(thank you Lord), have had a kid in college for the last 10 yrs., maybe I should make it 60'x120'.

I have to agree. Never enough room no matter how large you make it and how many buildings.
