I know that early trannys were made by Muncie and later trannys were made by Howa but i was wondering what other suppliers made transmissions for 151s.

I have an early take out A-1 or straight 151 engine that has a Muncie Indiana tranny attached to it and a few take out A-2 engines with Howa Machinery Corporation of Japan trannys attached. The engines are standard bill of fare. I always thought the Howa's were a good tranny, but because of our involvement in Vietnam ,the japanese stopped selling us those trannys. It seems as though about 1/3 of all A-2s had the Howa's.
