Removing the plastic covering from battery hold downs

Unread post by Rossco » February 19th, 2018, 2:51 pm

Hi all

What is the easiest way to remove the plastic insulation/covering from the battery hold downs? I want to repair/modify mine slightly to accept a new style of battery and then have them re-dipped in molten plastic?

I'd run a knife down the side to remove a strip, then just peel off,(educated guess, well not educated, just a guess)

Pretty much what Mark said, they were originally dipped and if they have not rusted then it is going to be on there pretty tight. Scrape off what you can and burn off the rest with a propane torch.

Thanks Rick it certainly is not easy to remove the plastic covering on these frames, mine are a wee bit rusty and will bead/sand blast once I have modified them. I did wondered if burning off the plastic was the way to go?
