Making a Multiple Way Connector

Unread post by 64 M151 » March 22nd, 2018, 9:59 pm

I came up with an idea that is cheap and easy to do.
Don't throw away those unusable Packard Connector Housings (Male/Female). You can make a 2-way, 3-way or a 4-way connector. The one I made is a 2-way connector for a tag light. You will need solder, shrink tubing, RTV Black & minimum of 6 inches of wire. Then splice in the required connector to connect from main wiring harness to the required component.
1. Solder the required # of wires together (Check for continuity)
2. Slide Shrink Tubing over the Shell and shrink (This will hold the shell in place and together)
3. Trim the inside locking lip out.
4. Push pig tail through the hole (May have to drill hole a little bit bigger to fit the wire)
5. Fill Shell cavity full of Black RTV.
6. Pull Pig Tail on out until it bottoms out.
7. Smooth out and coat the whole Shell.
8. Let cure for 24 to 48 hours.
9. Recoat shell if so desire.
