M151A2 Reference Photos - Fuel/Vent Lines
Working on the A2, looking to properly route the various fuel and vent lines and would appreciate some detailed photos of a complete system.
Primarily from the left (driver's) side, as that's where my need is.
My truck is fitted with the emissions fuel tank and underhood cannister for venting vapors. When received, the truck did not have the cannister, and I believe one or two lines had been removed/circumvented through the firewall.
I have looked at the various Google images and they are close to what I need. If a member has an emissions M151A2 with complete line fitting at the firewall, air cleaner, cannister and fuel tank, I would be very grateful.
Rick, I haven't forgotten the interest in the locker. Waiting to hear about a replacement unit at the moment.

WOW! That is the best pics of the lines I have seen yet! The fuel line from the carb back down to the pump should be steel though and not rubber, the rubber will actually cause vapor lock faster than steel.

Re: M151A2 Reference Photos - Fuel/Vent Lines
Hambone,
The photo was good, as it clearly showed that my system had apparently been modified/bypassed previously. The front two vents are currently piped to each other, the line from the rear float valve to the manifold is missing, and so is the complete manifold fitting that ties all of these together. I have ordered a replacement manifold from Red River, and will re-plumb the missing lines when it arrives.
Elmer, great clear copies. I have been beating the TMs to a pulp, trying to refine where my truck had strayed from the path over the years, and asking for images of what other members have would provide a clearer aspect than the TM line drawings of a factory-fresh unit.

Oh Rick, OCD can be a PITA at times, believe me. I've always looked to restorations as jigsaw puzzles to be solved. If I had a broader mechanical background, it might be different, but when dealing with "how-to" manuals and parts books, I've been doing OK. Just not too innovative.
BTW, Red River also had the Tee fitting I was asking about in the "Wanted "section.

I still can't look at a red oil fill cap and not laugh and think of Bob Amon

With Military M-151's you are going to go crazy if you have OCD. We made any jeeps, any year RUN. ... That was our mission, in the Marines. if You wanted something stock, forget it. That was never a option, or mission. "Get that thing running and get it out of here".m75 wrote:Oh Rick, OCD can be a PITA at times, believe me. Re: M151A2 Reference Photos - Fuel/Vent Lines
My A2 doesn’t have the canister or modified fuel tank, but my air cleaner assy has the large nipple directly adjacent to the main hose with nothing on it. If the canister was installed there would be a hose going directly from that nipple to the top of the canister, as illustrated in the beautiful engine pic above. The question is should that nipple be capped? Does my truck have the wrong air cleaner installed?

is there any sign of the two threaded mounting holes where the canister bracket would attach to the firewall? If there are no mounting holes, it's a pre-emission control vehicle. You can cap or plug that nipple.
