Try unplugging the the connector from the voltage regulator that goes to the main harness and then see if that solves the problem. This does have a 25 amp generator doesn't it? If it solves the problem then one of the contacts in the regulator is hanging and backfeeding power on the #76 wire. Is it an electronic regulator?
If you are running the 60 amp alternator then try it with the the number 568 field wire unplugged from the alternator. That would also be a bad regulator.

Arent you using an A2 harness?
If you are there must be a problem with the wiring at the switch.
A&C should be connected to the two 11 wires from harness and the other two to B&D on switch.
Dont smoke any thing!!!

You have an A1 with an A2 harness? You failed to mention that part. So the #77 circuit does not exist on this rig correct? Still, the distributor is being fed power from somewhere and since the switch has been replaced and from the description it is wired correctly that only leaves a backfeed from the alternator as the last possible source.

What about unplugging #12 wire with it running, you shouldn't get power on #12 with switch off.

You can do that but that involves meters and checking. What I was suggesting was basically the same thing but real world see if it works or if it don't type of deal. Either one will work.

Do NOT disconnect the #5 wire or ground wire on the alternator while it is running or you will toast the regulator, Then you will know for sure the regulator is bad but not if that was the original problem. No sense in adding to the problems. Kind of why I don't suggest disconnecting things while running to people over the internet.
