Ok, the mutt had the symptoms of a bad coil, but how to determine if the ignitor is good?So it boils down to coil/ignitor ? If my thinking is right. The mutt did eventually stop running.

So you have confirmed that you don't have a spark?

Do you have a multimeter for measuring Volts and Ohms?

Or a 24 volt test light? Test light on the negative side of the coil while cranking should flash once per cylinder. Or if no light at all check to be sure there is power coming into the coil and if there is then the coil may be bad, Disconnect the wire coming from the negative side of the coil to the module and check for power in and out of coil again and if you now have power the module is probably bad.

yes I do, I did ohm the terminals on the coil, got 6.4 ohms, 15.1K ohms on the secondary.I was going to find a place that tested coils but I'll do what you all said.I did try ohming each terminal to case of coil, got no reading
PS I did buy 5 or 6 coils from a guy named Higgins? ten years ago, can't find them yet.
Thanks for the feedback
PS I did the other checks as Rickf said, the readings were good, so after the coil heats up, then it must short out or something, ie.the wires expand when getting hot, the insulation is gone so it shorts out? That is kinda far-fetched primitive explanation,

Those readings are perfect for a NOS coil and the coils from Higgons were USGI NOS coils. I have a few myself. If the prices keep going up I may be able to finance my new house down south with them!
