Aftermarket Batteries
I'd like to throw a couple of new batteries into my '77 A2 to replace the old Walmart batteries that are currently in there. The batteries were too big for the top hold-down brackets so the previous owner just bent out the flanges to make them fit. Question is- are there aftermarket NAPA, etc batteries that will fit in the stock hold-downs, and what is the preferred CCA rating? Finding a battery that will fit is one thing, but if the CCA is too low it won't do much good.

51R battery fits well. it has more CCA then the stock military battery.
Autozone has them as well as Interstate.

Or you can buy new 2hn batteries but they are pricey, you can even get them in AGM which are even pricier.
