distributor cam

Unread post by 12Bravo » August 2nd, 2018, 2:58 pm

Will a M-38 points rotor work on the 151 distributor? I know it will interchange but will it work. Bought the kit off eBay and it has 6 points on the cam and everything about it is wrong.

I would say that sounds more like an M-37 distributor cam. :?

M-38 rotor cam is off just enough that the the rotor almost will line up with the contacts on the cap. Not enough adjustment on distributor to fire it up.

I am not sure but I think the M-38 rotates in the opposite direction also so things like points, points plate, advance weights all will be different even if it is a 4 cylinder cam.

Rotated the plate on the M-38 rotor cam to put the lope on the side like a M-151 rotor cam ,using the points plate out of a M-38 distributor into a 151 distributor and fires right up. Problem solved ,now I have a points distributor for backup while in Sasquatch Boogie woods trail riding.
