Battery Amps

Unread post by sarmadq » December 5th, 2008, 2:08 am

Can anyone help me with the original amperage on the MUTT. Would there be any damage if high amp batteries are installed ?

Higher amperage batteries will do no harm at all. The starter and other accesories will only draw what they need.

I vaguely remember an articled in the Military Vehicle Magazine awhile back about batteries.
There was something about the higher the amps the thinner the plates were and thus more fragile.
The extra amps may not be worth the shorter battery life.
I’m not a battery expert by any means, but this maybe something you might want to look into before spend your $.

Remember, battery technology has advanced just a little in the past forty years. Todays batteries of equal physical size will be twice as strong and have twice the reserve capacity. The batteries I have in mine were for a Honda I believe. I don't even remember the number, 22N maybe? The thinner plates have been offset by the use of different materials.
