Can I run 7.50x16 NDT's on my A1?

Unread post by mutt and jeff » August 7th, 2020, 7:33 pm

I have put a set of Speedway tires on my Dodge WC56 and am very happy with them for the money. While Coker and STA are in the $130 per tire range, Speedway is $84 for the 6.00x16 NDT. The 7.00 NDCC jumps up to $114 a tire but the larger 7.50 8 ply is only $94 a tire. I know the 7.00 is the correct size, but to have a 1/2" wider tire with more plys for less money is bringing me to this post.

Any rub issues or other problem forseen with the 7.50? Don't see why it won't fit on the spare tire carrier on the back.

I'll hang up and listen.

The Marines were developing a super mutt using the 7.50 tires. IIRC, they hammered in the wheel well openings on the front. The project went bust and a while back there were hundreds of new 7.50 tires coming out of DRMO. I bought a set since they were cheap but never tried them. Sold them to a buddy that put them on his M38A1 and boy did they look good on it.

Thats all I can offer.

This one had 7.50x16's on it, they would rub when you got off the road.
