i was planning to fill the transmission oil from the top (from the gear shift lever hole to be clear) , for sure i ll check the level from the oil plug hole positioned on the right side of transmission , do you see any controindications ?
Thanks

Re: Transmission oil filling
Make sure you pull the right plug, there are 2 on the side of the tranny, don't pull the top one.
Re: Transmission oil filling
Or just pour 5 1/2 pints in the top and you are good to go. Or 2.6024706015 liters for your side of the ocean. No need to go to the trouble to check but like was said, be SURE to pull the right plug!

Re: Transmission oil filling
Rick - wasn't there some talk on here about filling the trans about 1" above the side fill plug? The theory was that it lubricates one of the rear bearings better?

Re: Transmission oil filling
I don't remember, I usually just dump 3 quarts in mine since it is easy to measure three quarts and the extra 8 ounces will equal maybe 1/4" higher in the transmission. I doubt that is going to cause any issues. But if you get too high you can get into the high speed gears and get serious foaming and that is not good.

Re: Transmission oil filling
When I drive the mutt up on a ramp, then I fill transmission till it runs out.I thought that little extra oil gave better lubrication
