Hi.
Yes you can get the NATO type tires that you mention in 7.00X16. New and re-tread. You would need to be sure that you get the type with the rounded shoulders for your MUTT.
The Dutch Vrederstein company makes them. Used on the Dutch version of M38A1 - Nekaf in 7.00x16.
In Danish army we used these tires on the Mutt. I have experienced that using the square shouldered type from the M38A1 on a Mutt can be exiting when they start to jump through corners because the "edge" is gripping at the road surface because of wheel inclinement.
Here is a photo of one of my Mutts with the correct tyres in this patern. Best seen on the spare.
This type of patern is better on wet surface, the Yokohama NDCC tires are like driving on ice.
The re-tread tires in Dk were manufactured by Viborg Baner, and it should still be possible to get some
On another subject, note the special gascan arangement, this is because the Danish army uses the "german" Jerrycan type, that would be punctured if it was stowed in the normal manner for the US type cas can. The box underneath is a tool box, normaly used for the tire chains.
Chris.
