Question Dash Markings Found

Unread post by Cobra5 » March 10th, 2008, 7:16 pm

Found my hood markings on the passenger side dash while sanding today. Has anyone come across this before? It also appears that the hood numbers were applied first than covered over and a stencil stating " Install Drain Plug Before Fording". Is it possible the numbers were applied at the factory?

when the switch was made from 4 color camo to 3 color camo the registration number was moved from the hood onto the right side of the dashboard. This is still the current practice as we speak. The fording plug stencil was prob added by a previous owner.

Moose,

I'm still thinking about what paint scheme to use. So if I use the 3 instead of 4 color camo I put the hood number on the dash, correct? I may just go with solid drab green and put AF markings on it.

The registration or hood number was put on the dash in the 4 color camo system also.....many times though it wasn't put on at all.... :)
There is one nut on a M151 that is very difficult to remove.....

I sent off the info to Ken, aka muttguru, he said the same thing only he never seen a USMC vehicle marked this way.
