Underbody repair

Unread post by cstaup » April 25th, 2008, 8:20 am

Well, I've been repairing, replacing the underbody of my A1. I have been cutting out the bad spots and patching in good steel.

I am using 16ga sheet, Is this OK? I don't plan on showing this thing, I just want to have a solid rust free MUTT.

Yes, I've sand blasted the entire unibody and it stays in a climate controlled garage (Until I'm done, then I can put the sofa and chairs back [which will make my wife happy]).

Well 16 guage is one size heavier than the stock 18 guage but it will cause no problems. Put the sofa and chairs back? Is this like rebuilding the Harley in the living room?

Nah, That was a joke. Thanks Rick, I'll exhaust the 16ga and stick with a whole lot of 18ga I have laying around.
