Early M151 frame tag.

Unread post by Eddie Holland » April 2nd, 2013, 9:26 pm

Just brought home a early M151 I bought 2 Mutts thinking they are both M151A1s but just learned tonight from the help of Rickf this one is an M151.
He told me to look for a foil tag on the front of the frame. I found it but so far cant read much of it. it is rivetted to drivers side frame with pop rivets.
I can read @ top right 14514 looks like maybe two letters in front of it . looks like i can read 9754459 bottom right but this just appears to be about the last 1/2 of that number. There is a creas in the center of the tag making it hard to read the left half. It started getting dark so I ran out of time. I got these from different pencil lead rubs.

I took a picture of the one on my 1960 m151, so if you put in front rail tag or something like that in the "search" box
I'd think you would get my posting

I found this pic on the net. This is what I believe mine should look like with the different number stamped. So does this mean mine is a Kaiser? The 2nd number is the same as what I saw. And I can now make out some of the other words after seeing this picture.

Hello Eddie, Rick.
Yes, it's a Ford M151. If the number really is 14514, that would put it around a Feb/Mar 1961 delivery, with a hood number (if Army) beginning 2B.

The use of the well-known "BUDD" plate located on the firewall came later.

That number you quoted - 9754459 - is actually 8754459.

Kind regards....

I looked at the plate again in the daylight and It is a little different from the one I sent the link of above.
The first line says Serial number I will look at it again. The serial number I listed is the easy part to read.
Thanks for the info!
