gauge lenses
I have a few spare gauges, plus those in my jeeps panel now, that work fine but look like crap. Have any of you had any luck rehabbing the lenses, and if so, how did you go about it?
Thanks
Jim

Re: gauge lenses
I took some really fine steel wool and plastic polish and that seemed to clean them up pretty well. Actually any good piece of cotton cloth and plastic polish should clean them right up. Make the lens look good again and get any paint overspray off.

Bob Amon had a pretty good post about hazey/foggy guages some time back. I think it was over at G503. Maybe he'll read this and tell us more.

Hi Jim.
I use 3M plastic polish, I think O'Reilly's stock it or they can order it for you, works real well.

I use to build scale aircraft models. When I'd finish polishing a canopy, the last step was a coat of future.

Re: gauge lenses
I've used Simichrome polish for years to clean up gauges. Put it on your fingertip and polish the lense while you're watching TV. I've also used toothpaste but it needs to have some abrasive in it and not the "gel" type.

Re: gauge lenses
If your lense is fogged from moisture, rather than replace it, you can drill a small hole in it to let the moisture escape. Of course, it will no longer be sealed, but if it is fogged, it is no longer sealed anyway.
