Re: oil pressure
If that is at idle then yes it is good. The temp is too low, that would be the stock thermostat. You want to move up to a 180 thermostat, much better for power and also better for the engine since it will vaporize moisture in the oil.

Rick,
Was the 180 thermostat something they came out with later and then put into the older models, or is that a civvy part?

Re: oil pressure
The book probably calls for 160 but It seems to work better with a 180 degree thermostat installed as the master says.

Re: oil pressure
It is a civvy part. 160 was the standard in the 50's and 60's. I don't know how old you are but the old cars would always have a milky coating on the oil cap. That was water condensation from the oil. You will always get moisture in the engine as it cools off and that ends up in the oil. The higher temp thermostats will eliminate that. The newer computer controlled cars use thermostats going as high as 210 degrees. The hotter an engine runs the more efficient it is, up to a point and then you have pre-ignition problems. You will find that the 180 thermostat will eliminate the flat spot that theses things are famous for, as long as everything else is right.
