electric ignition control?
anyone know the easiest ways to tell the difference from the presto. control for the dist. and the swiss??
From what I can see on pictures the swiss has 4 wires and the presto has 3??
I found one but it doesn't say which one it is just a "3 wire"

I can't remember which is which but Prestolite is magnetic pick up with the small rotor and Swiss is hall effect with large rotor.

Re: electric ignition control?
on the swiss do you have to replace the "post" like the presto. or is it just pull the rotor and breaker plate and put on the control and new "swiss" rotor?
Trying to make sure that this "kit" has all of the parts and I don't screw myself out of 57$

Re: electric ignition control?
The swiss controls mounts on the distributor shaft just as the current unit:
In any event mounting is quite simple.
However you have to be Very careful dressing the leads.
the instruction sheet is graphic and easy to follow.

Thanks Fil but this one that I found looks like a T/O so we (my father-n-law and I) opted to keep the points system. That and he knows sorta how to work on points but nothing about the electronic side.Fil Bonica wrote:The swiss controls mounts on the distributor shaft just as the current unit:

But if anyone wants to take a shot there is one on the TNJ website for 57$
Control
