My 65 has a 3 color pattern, I really want to paint it in 4 color....anyone know where I can find the diagram??? And if anyone has ever done this, can it be done with a brush or does it need to be sprayed??? Sorry if I sound like a dumb ass..
Re: 4 color camo pattern?
US Army 4 color camo
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Introduced by TC5-200 in 1975,this “painting by numbers” system was adopted by the US Army and later by the US Air Force and the US Marine Corps. It consisted of 4 colours in a ratio of 45%, 45%, 5% and 5%. The specific colours used varied from World zone to zone and from season to season. An example is the patterns used in Europe, which differed from Summer to Winter. The basic idea was that as the seasons changed, and the landscape changed likewise, then vehicles could be adapted to blend in with the different landscape by altering one (or two) of the 4 colours rather than having to repaint the whole vehicle. The same theory applied when a vehicle was transferred from, say, Europe to a red desert environment.
Although the 4-colour system gave rise to many aesthetically pleasing patterns, it was overly complicated and time-consuming to operate. Eventually, it was superceded by the introduction of the 3-colour “CARC” system which is still in use. Appropriate technical document is TB43-0209 (1976).
Taken off the wiki ......... i'm sure there's a pattern reference that someone has.
Nothings dumb ass when it comes to the MUTTs

There is no such thing as a dumb question and nobody is dumb on here. That is where we are very different from another board. Fair warning though, A lot of us here have a rather twisted sense of humor.

Why whatever do you mean?
Heprox
First off, welcome to the board! Secondly like Rickf posted, there are no dumb questions. Yes you can paint your mutt with a brush and still be "historically correct". Most of the time, that's how the patterns were applied anyway. Neat thing about those patterns is that you have a choice of a summer, winter or desert color scheme.

See if this helps. I never knew there were so many variations of 4 color camo.
It's from Ken's MUTTPAGE:
