I really dont want to "pin" the plate to the body, so I figgured the fuel can will work. I had one that rusted through and did this.

very cool idea. I like it much better than my quickie solution. Had to do something fast as the local cop didn't like the chain i hung from the pintle.

Cool idea  8) The LEDs would be necessary in Missouri, as the state requires the rear plate to be illuminated.

I was thinking of making up a few after I got this one worked out.

After a little thinking, I thought about taking solar LED garden light apart. No need for a switch, just place the panel somewhere inconspicuous. Thanks for the good words guys.

Merry Christmas

In Texas the state allows owners of former Military Vehicles to register them as such and in doing so Texas drops the requirement for a license plate all together. Instead they require that there be a visible hood number, on both sides, and that number is the one used in lieu of a license plate. You might check with your state to see if a similar option exists.

BTW... that is real ingenius cstaup. Nice work!

Here is a simple idea for mounting the rear plate. Former owner of my mutt had a T bracked welded to the Spare Tire mounting plate. Plate fits right in the spare wheel out of the way.

I did mine like this, using an "L" shaped piece of aluminum drilling 4 holes in it, and two on the MUTT. Short wire used for the light and tucked inconspicuously underneath.

Ok, I don't have a picture but I used an old plate on the inside of the rear bumper and my good plate on the outside and just put the 4 bolts in an no holes or welding ...get to show just slip it off...

Not too sure about antique plates, but for a standard vehicle license, the rear plate must be illuminated.

Here's how I did mine.

This may be helpful. Don't know about other states but here in Virginia it was quit a bit less expensive to insure an antique vehicle, so I paid the $25 for antique plates, went to Havertys for insurance and saved about $300 a year. Only restrictions is limited use, limit to 2500 miles a year, no more than 250 miles per outing. Not a problem for as much as I plan to drive each year.

Nice plate holder cs.....I 'll look into it. In Missouri, we pay about as much for these antique plates, and Ins. about $65. pr. year, 2500 miles. Seabee
