acudanut, i look forward to hearing your report when you have completed a heater install. just wait til you try and fit your hands through the dash opening to connect various bits in the blind area near the grab handle. don't let the team down--oh, by the way, can you still scream "medic" at the top pf your lungs?

LOL, no plans on a heater install as of yet....If it's that cold, I'll drive something else.

I put my M151A1 on a lift and worked "up" at waist level...I am a fatass with a rebuilt back.....and that... having to crawl up under the steering wheel and hands up under the dash called for putting it in the best, working-on position, I could get.

I had a brake failure on my 72 A2 a few years ago and asked a retired Army mechanic who works for a local antique vehicle shop to fix it.
When I got the bill, excludingall the nos parts, MC, brakes, lines, etc...everything changed out, the labor was $950.
I was a bit surprised so I called rickf to tell him the problem was resolved but was surprised at the labor cost.
He told me that was a bargain, and be glad I didn't decide to attempt it my self.
I now appreciate that aside from a heater install, the MC replacement is right up their in #2 slot on the major PITA list.

The MC on these M151's, was designed to be "installed" when it was new...not replaced. Almost enough to make a grown man cry.

Well, I got the Master Cylinder in. I had to drill out the holes as Rick said. My brother in law helped hold things while I bolted it all up... Got 'er done in about 1 1/2 hours. Just waiting on the wheel cylinders now. I took out the drivers seat and laid a 2 X 12 board down and did it all on my back. Piece of cake...And alot of beers ...lol
I also blew out the brake lines to make sure they were not clogged up.
Cheers

I need a splitter fitting that bolts to the bottom of the Master Cylinder. It also is where the first brake line screws into. Mine has a crack in it. Also, do I need compression washers for that 3/4 bolt ? I can't seem to find a vendor for this part.
Thanks, Mike
