64m151 had a post not too long ago pertaining to that with the associated numbers. There is no civvie master cylinder. Personally I would just get the military stuff for now. It is actually cheaper. Frontline has a good deal on brakes.

Yes, Frontline had a complete set up with e-brake and springs for only 50.00. :D
They were out of wheel cylinders so I bought those from :....http://www.midwestjeepwillys.com/m151_parts.html
They have great prices too.....TMJMurry was the most expensive.
P.S. I found :http://www.rapcoparts.com/12brakes151.html
It looks like their master cylinder is 20 bucks cheaper.....Dang...too late

On the master cylinder do not be surprised if the mounting holes are too small, just drill them to size. Yea, they are a real blast to put in.

Any tips or video's out there on putting a master cylinder in a M-151. ??? I've done hundreds of these on other vehicles, but not on a Mutt....BTW,, My return spring on the brakes does not return on it's own...Is that typical for a bad M/C.

If you have an A2 it is easier to remove the steering column and then the pedal assembly with cylinder can come out. If you leave the column in then there is a nut on the pedal shaft to the right of the column, take that nut off and the clutch pedal will come out the other end with the shaft. Loosen the mount bolts under the dash and then remove the brake line and sender. Take the two bolts out off the master cylinder and wiggle it out. There should be a return spring on the pedal. Have lots off beer, band aids and pain killers on hand.

Mine is a 62. I don't know...Hmmmm...Maybe just removing the steering wheel should help...How hard is it to remove the entire column ? Beer is my pain killer. lol

Hi, It will also help if you remove the headlight switch and, if you have a cow vent on the left side it will give you another hand access hole. There is a Helical spring "item # 19" that the hooked end will brake off of when old and rusted.

You have a straight 151, forget the steering column since it is one with the box and has to go out the bottom. Not much better of a job than the master cylinder. By the time you are done this job your ribs will hurt bad enough that you will be mixing the pain killers with the beer for effect! Oh, by the way, It hurts worse the next day or two. Just figured I would throw that in so you can prepare. Don't sneeze for at least a week.

I did my A2s by removing the light switch for room then removing the brake clutch pedal assembly.
Wit a little effort and choice curse words you should be able to do it. If You can check and prime the New master cylinder in the vice before you install .

Good Luck

Put screens over the garage windows so thrown tools do not break the windows. If outside hang sheets all around work area to catch thrown tools. You will realize after the bleeding stops that you still need said tool.

Definitely take out the drivers seat, you will need the room. The steering wheel might help but I don't think so since everything you need to do is well under it, plus it makes a handy handle to grab to get untwisted.

I am 6'3" and 220 and I did it. Plus I am "OLD". I figured I would add that in before Rainman or Seabee got to it.
What a wuss, pawn it off on someone else. You must have been an officer in another life.
