Modded MUTTs in Pakistan

Unread post by MUTT Vet » May 4th, 2012, 1:37 pm

I stumbled upon these on my daily internet wanderings.

This first one is a modified A2. I don't care for the H1 mini-hummer taggings but other than that it's kinda interesting.

It's listed as for sale but i'm not sure if it still is. The guy is asking 600,000 rupee for it!...that's only about $6,607 USD. I would bet the international shipping would be outragious.

I like the extra Jerry can on the drivers side and the ammo can on the passenger side.

It's on a Pakistani car trader site: http://www.pakwheels.com/forums/vehicle ... do-karachi

These look like an M825 but i've never seen one with a back seat like that:

What is the container with the hose coming out of it on the fender on the lieft side? Mine doesn't have that:

Found this one on Flickr. It's another M825 looking version (I think this may be one of SarmdaQ's:

Why is it that there are so many MUTTs in Pakistan? Seems like there are more there than in the US. Also seems that there are a lot of competent mechanics over there too.

We used to have a couple of Pakistani members, both have moved on. Most of the 151's over there have drivelines out of other vehicles.

Yeah I remember them, they were pretty good guys it seemed.

On the third picture from the bottom, the one of the engine. Is that container on the inside fender on the left for the window fluid?

Think the bulk of the G838s sent to Pakistan were of the M825 variant. Not 100% sure but it certainly looks that way.

AM General continued to make the vehicles long after the last US military contract expired. Pakistan bought a bunch of them in the mid-eighties....

Hey Muttvet,
Thats a lot of cash that dude is asking and hes been doing that for a while. A good Mutt will go for only half of what he is asking. A decent Mutt with a minor implants would go for a tad bit over $2000.

Hey Sherwan, it's been a while. I hope you are well.

At even $2000 the shipping and transportation costs would be prohibitively high.

Yes its been a while. Thanks for asking.

To tell you the truth, its not that expensive to do so. i reckon a FCL container would cost about $1500 for a freighter bound to a US port. I remember Clell brought in one from Vietnam, but if you ask me one would be better off buying one in the US. Although these Mutts look good in the pictures they rarely run reliably due to the immediate lacking of parts and most have been used vigorously by Army for over 20 years.

Sherwan how are you? Hope all is well and you have been safe? I stuck mine in a container of goods we had coming over from VN and we have a contract with a shipping line so the cost was min but to have it moved by a forwarder or to buy a whole 20' container would be quite expensive. You are correct, better to buy one here as over there most are a mixture of parts from all classes of 151's. There are plenty here and most are not mutt salad. Be well and stay in touch....
