holes in back of windshield

does someone know why there are holes in back of windshield 3 left and 3 right see picture?

Is the other side the same pattern? Are they threaded or drilled through to the inside only? Do they go through to the outside? Ed

as you see on the pict;. only one sight , bought left and right the same type of holes

That windshield frame was at one point in it's life on a jeep that was fitted with a hard top kit. The two vertical holes on each side of the windshield frame are for attaching the door hinge mounting brackets, part of the hard top package.
See below picture.
They were not originally in the windshield frame when it was made, they were drilled into it when a hard top kit was fitted as some point in it's military service. They are easily welded closed and painted over if you do not want to mount a hard top.

The holes closer to the middle, I have no idea about them. Sorry.
