Since my Gama Goat is street legal and titled sind the end of August, I am thinking of a headset to communicate with the passenger.

I am thinking of using this with the Goat and with the M151 (and in the future with my Deuce).

My idea is to use the setup as described here in the Wiki public_html/wiki/doku.php?id=radio_inte ... components

But I am not absolutely sure if I am on the correct way. From the Wiki I interpret that the described setup is only usable when you have a radio setup. Well, in my M151 I have the RT-524 on the rear passenger side fender and the PRC-77 in the AM-2060 mount on the rear driver side fender. Both installations are working.

Now I have my questions.

Do I really need a C-2298 control box for every person?

What cables do I need? In the Wiki I can find a hint on a 18 pin cable. But what cable is it? With which connectors?

When using the headset for my Goat or Deuce without a radio installation, does this AN/VIC-1 setup work or not? Or is the radio necessary for getting the 24V?

If it is only working with a radio mounted to the MV, what would be a good non-civilian alternative?

i installed a VIC 1 setup in my M151, in conjunction with my RT524, so that we could talk to each other via the headsets. i had three stations, driver, passenger and rear seat. i don't know if the system would work without a radio, but it worked very well with it. there are some jurisdictions that restrict driver use when on public roads.

Same here, you must be able to hear a siren from the police or ambulance. Thanks for your answer.

I would use a good, modern, aviation intercom. They run on 24V and you could use good headsets which have good passive noise cancellation and are not a bugger to wear as the old military ones. These intercoms are standalone units, low cost ones are available from Pilot Communication. They have adjustable VOX and the cheaper ones are 2 headsets only anyway, what you need. You can buy them online or from German Luftfahrtbedarf shops. I had looked into this when I had my M35 but never pulled the trigger as I was driving on my own anyway.

I think the modern ones Horst talks about are better since they are electronic and will use very little power and if you leave them on they will not kill the batteries like leaving a 524 on will do.
