I need to know what you are trying to do, it sounds like you have the old type speaker which has the larger connector it was used in the early '50s GRC radios....

Are you sure you have an LS-454/U? They have a flying lead with the correct plug for your radio. The connector in your photo makes me think you might have an LS-671/VRC -see http://radionerds.com/index.php/LS-671%7EVRC

Well that is certainly not what I suggested. I cannot find details for it - does it have a data plate with model info?

ITS the LS-454/A..not U
I found a CX-4723/VCR Cable.
Can I use it to cut it in two and make a new connection with a U-229/u connector?

Hmm. Made in Italy? What is the cable in the picture? CX something?
Sort of looks like it may be intended to connect to the mounting the same as the LS-671...

It looks to me that the speaker can be connected to the RT-524 mounting plate to give audio from the radio. Not sure if it will work the same with the 442 mounting plate but I suspect it will.
