Hi Fellas,
I just finished doing a VRC-49 install on my 74 A2. No pics yet... sorry.
Basically its two identical VRC-46 installs, one mounted on each Sponson, with a C-2299 to manage both, and complete the authentic Canadian setup, the AMUs are mounted on the ROPs with Utility Brackets.
I haven't powered anything up yet as i'm still waiting on some Antenna bottoms.
So just wondering, if set on "Low Power", can I put both of these things on the same frequency to see if they both are capable of Transmitting and Receiving by Transmitting on one at a time?
Scotty

Do not transmit without an antenna. The radio needs to see a load at the antenna connection. Either an antenna or a dummy load.

Please leave it be till you get the antenna sections like it was said it needs a load on it to transmit make sure you are using both sections also I was playing around without the top section just looking for some FM TV freqs and hit the trans by mistake, expensive mistake. Scot out

Re: Testing my VRC-49 Install? Ideas?
Thanks for the tips guys.
No intentions of even connecting the main power cables until I have the antennas ready to go.
Just curious if on "Low Power", can I test the two units Trans/Receive abilities back and forth, even though they are in the same vehicle. More to the point, is the distance between the Antennas sufficient to do this?
Thanks
Scotty

no you are too close together for any operation on the same frequency. you will seriously overload the front end of the radios even on low power.

I'll see if I can't sneak in a Radio Check with a vehicle at work.
Thanks
