Question for the radio people...Why can't I just put an antennae splitter in line from the big whip of the 524 to run my 442???? HTN

A simple splitter would feed power back into the receiver 442 and most likely fry it. There may be some sort of isolation splitter but then you would have to deal with the matching problem.

You could rig an antenna relay to switch the 442 offline when you transmit with the 524. Otherwise you will destroy the 442 if you use a "splitter". Its okay for receivers to share antennas but not transmitters. It would be cheaper and easier to just add the AB-15 antenna for the 442 like the military did...
