What type of radio mount went here?

Unread post by homerguy » February 24th, 2010, 9:34 pm

Any recognize the bolt pattern for the radio that was once mounted here. I have a sponson for RT524 and it definitely does not come close to matching.

Hi, if there is a set of holes on the other fender it could have been set up like this one.

Yes there are bolt holes( mirror images) on both sides. Evidence of one antenna bracket on drivers rear.

The pic is of probably two RT-68s they sit on a table mount that sits between the wheel wells There were Coffin Radios thats what they called them they were used on the USAF FAC Mutts that whole system was called a Pallet(MRC-107, MRC-108) and the holes are to far forward for that I was thinking GRC-106 until you said same on the other side maybe just two ammo boxes for storage. Definitely not ammo cans.

This mutt was a radio jeep with big generator under the hood and gauges on the dash. It also has the power supply cable that runs through the toolbox. I'm just trying to find the correct mount that fits without having to redrill

homerguy,

your jeep was equipped with the AN/MRC-83 radio set. To right of the grab handle this data plate had been located http://g838.org/wiki/doku.php?id=radio_variants

I welded the holes but left all the stuff in the dash. Yes, serial number on the data plate was XXX'd and the numbers on hood and fender were sprayed over.
