AS 1730 mast

Unread post by 199th mp » July 14th, 2010, 9:11 pm

when screwing the upper and lower mast sections together, is there any type of lubricant that can be used to reduce the chance of the parts being difficult to separate in the future? which lubricants should i avoid so as not to affect the antenna capability?

I can't remember if the two sections have an "O" Ring between them or not. You could try Dielectric Grease, but it is hard on "O" rings.

I have never seen an O ring on one before.Diaelectric grease should work fine.

thanks-- i put the silicon grease on it and installed it this am--still need the book though--has anyone here installed the j box and comm boxes on a 524 in order
to provide an intercom between driver and passenger? i'm considering it, and am curious if it is effective or more trouble and $$$$ than it's worth. as we all know
it's difficult to communicate in a 151 when you are up to speed, and i have a significant hearing loss as well, which is why i'm thinking about it.
