R-442...The "R" means that it can only receive, and not transmit.
It allows you to monitor another frequency besides the one you are using to transmit on.

The AB-15 was used with several radio systems. Search this page for AB-15 and you will see it listed for many of the systems: http://www.arrl.org/files/file/Hambands_color.pdf

To mount a R 442 you will need:
1. Sponson mounting plate that attaches to the Jeep's sponson (fender).
2. MT 1898 mount...attaches to the sponson mounting plate
3. R 442 slips into the mount and is secured to same with a thumb screw.

ohiomgman--i've decided not to use a 442 in my setup--though the shipping might be costly because of weight, i have the sponson plate, the MT1898, an
AB15 without bracket or mast and the cable used to connect the MT1898 to the MT1029. if you have any interest in these parts, send me a pm.

that the CX-4721/VRC. It's a short cable that connects the MT-1898 power input Jack to the Aux power output jack on the MT-1029. It can also interconnect two R-442's the same way. Then you only have to power up the main RT, and it will automatically power up the aux receivers.
