I recently renewed my license VK2BGE as the M151A2 I bought was fitted with the vehicle mounted PRC77. I will use it at vehicle events and maybe on the 6 metre ham band and one day maybe I will be able to get the RF amplifier. I would be interested to know what performance other users of vehicle mounted PRC77's have experienced.

Well, even though this is a very old post. Here it is, I am KM6BRB, I have a working RT-524 in my MUTT and I have a compete 2060A with PRC-77 set up waiting for my next project.... whatever that may be.

I am a ham geek and I was able to convince my son (at age 13) to get his license. He is now 17 and we use our hams all of the time, especially when cell service is not in range.

Extra here as well (AC8EM). Do you have any SINCGARS stuff? I'm looking for the radio mount/power supply for one. Ideally the single radio mount MX-10862 and MT-6576.

VK4BS is my call. Can use the RT524 and PRC77 on 6 metres of course but no one else in th Tablelands Military Vehicle Club has a ham licence so I can only talk to myself! The solution was to apply for a commercial licence and I got 72.350MHz which I can authorise others to use :D

interestingly that frequency is licensed to the Army in other parts of Australia but was still available in Far North Queenslannd.

I held KL7JHO when I was stationed in Alaska but let it lapse when they stopped letting you know it was time to renew. Now I am installing radios on my M151A1 I guess its time to reinstate it. I worked 22 wpm Morse as a radio op in the British Army before coming to the USA. I used to drive my CO nuts when I talked on the ham bands while flying the UH-1H or whenever I could talk the grunts into letting me "borrow" the radios in the back of the Gamma Goats while in the field and I did not have a mission to fly.

Doc, Do,or did, you know a guy out that way named Ralph Javins? He was a big time HAM operator. He was conversing with me by e-mail and just stopped and I fear he may have passed. Super smart guy with anything electronic.

Sorry to say Rick but he appears to be a Silent Key. I did a FCC license search which lists his home address as Bothell. License expired in Dec. of 2018. I found this soon after...

Sounds like a man I would have liked to have known.

How do you FIND this stuff?! I looked all over for anything related to his obit and I found a couple leads but nothing solid. Yep, That would be him and the timeline is right on when I stopped hearing from him. I don't know exactly how old Ralph was but I do know he was one of the inventors of the first solar panels and it is still circulating somewhere above us. so He was up there in years. I believe he was in his 80's. He was a person who loved to talk, and type! You could tell he was old school because he would send an e-mail that was 5 pages long!

I've had my Tech license for 8 years, never keyed the mic on my RT246, KD8RGQ. I'm slowly studying for my General. I have a friend in Northern Ky who owns 2 MUTTS and mostly Military radios of all sorts, US and Foreign. He has a complete B17 setup with GI crank generator that he sets up at the Ham Fest in Xenia, Ohio. I don't know his call sign but his name is Joe Munson, super cool guy. I have 2 ANGRR5's he is working on, I don't think he will be able to repair them and I'm ready to part with them, one has the mount the other is just the radio. Powers supplies are shot on both I believe.
