Unread post by poof » September 23rd, 2010, 1:20 pm

additional Pictures in My album link here . with covers off and racks opened.

What appears to be missing?. It powers up and speaker works... will not KEY or Fan come on. have tried 2 diffrent hand sets, stil nothing. and the one component with the ? ? ? on top.. also the 4 prong female (turquoise) round plug.? center of picture. further examination this morning.. I Powered it up with the top off.. I didnt see any GLOW fron the Tube in the top center .. the lights work on the dial.. when I turn on/off and use the circut breaker. then power on again, I hear a kicking noise inside.
Just starting to work on this beast.. would like to have it functional.
am getting the TM's down loaded to disc sent to me in a couple weeks.
what say the experts?

the one PIN was burnt in its past life. I have it able to make contact now a bit of Jerry rig work on the Female side of power plug on mount.
Thanks

Quite a few of the manuals are available here for the VRC radios. Have you looked in the manual section?

I was told at one time that in addition to the module and tube that were removed for the demill they would also cut a wire some where. Not always the same wire and it would be picked at random. I would go over ALL of the internal wiring and look for a cut wire. This guy told me it is hard to find because all they did was snip the wire and not move it so you don't see a wire out of place. I am not a radio guy but the person telling me about it was very knowledgeable.

I am Handicapped in more ways than one.. but I also have Dial up service.. and that keeps me from down loading so much stuff.. 10 to 12 minutes a meg average time.

I am in the same boat. Did you figure out why you cannot transmit yet. Where is the module and tube that was refered to?

Although I am not an expert on radios by a LONG shot I also do not see a tube.
