commo check needed--sacramento area

Unread post by 199th mp » October 18th, 2010, 9:05 pm

now that i've completed the install on mt RT524A, is there anyone in the sacramento area that i could arrange a commo check with? if you have time and a 524 setup, and would be willing to arrange a few minutes one evening after work where i could fire up the 151 and test my radio for transmit and receive, i would appreciate it if you would send me a pm so we could set it up. thanks, ron hill

Hey 199th,
Sounds like a good time to be looking for a PRC-77. You can do your own radio checks. :D I'm a big ifan of the PRT-4 and PRR-9 radio sets. They are crystal controlled low power squad radios, but they're fairly cheap and easy to modify to available batteries. Good for in house radio checks and fun even for big kids like me.

anyone with a 6 meter ham radio could talk to you too, although I wouldn't approach them unless you are licensed too. A lot of fire companies are still on the VHF-Low band which you can hear also.

Contact one of your local Amateur Radio clubs. Google came up with a few of them: http://www.google.com/search?q=sacramento+amateur+radio

They should have plenty of members who would love to test an antique like that.

I know that if Sacramento was within reasonable driving distance, I would already be there testing it. :D
