Mounting 6707 on an M38A1

Anyone know the configuration to mount a 6707 on an A1. The 449g antenna mount I think is for an AB 15 only. I know that the A1 is an earlyer jeep than the 6707 system but that is what I'm looking to do. Next question. Can you use an AB-15 with a 524? or will that make fireworks? Thanks for your help in advance.

check some mounts for other early vehicles that did get VRC-12 Radios, such as the M-37, which had a mount to attach a sugar scoop to the bed... M880 pick-up, CUCV etc. while nothing was made specifically for the m-38A1 one of those might meet your needs. The AB-15 has been around since the 1940's, and can be used to transmit using different element combinations. However, you will need some type of antenna tuner to match the RT-524 to the antenna for it to work well. The antenna matching circuitry for the VRC-12 radios was built into the antennas.

Moose I must disagree,The M38a1 was in use till the mid 60s and there was an installation kit for installing the VRC12 series radios.These kits are rare as breast milk from virgins and I have only seen 1 mount in my 25 plus years of dealing in commo gear.We customised some M151 corners and used the old pre MX6707, MX2799 matching units known by some people as the "shoebox".Somewhere I have the drawings for the origonal mount.
You could use an AB15 but you would be stuck on the frequency range determined by the length of the elements installed.The Ab449 mount also known as the spare tire mount was used for the AB15 and will not acomadate a MX6707.

It as been a while but I wanted to post photos of the base mount for a 6707 for an M38A1 I fabricated. Miljeep sent me photos that I used for this. I had to do it form memory since I lost those photos. Miljeep, if you are still out there can you send me those photos again to skmayville@aol.com. I modified the 449g mount by drilling 4 holes to accept my fabricated mount normally designed to accept an AB15. I know it is not correct but better that attaching a sugar scoop. With trepidation I invite observation.
