Searching for a cover

Hi,

Do you have an idea where to find a (canvas) cover for my radio? I have a complete VRC-53 (PRC-77 with AM-2060 mounted on MT-1029).

To install the MT-1029 on the right rear fender there seems to be a brace (from the mount to the bottom of the fender) necessary which I do not have. Where do I find this?

I also miss the installation material:

I just found this additional information on the Internet:
In most cases the MT-1029 is not directly bolted to the vehicle, instead a metal mounting plate is attached to the vehicle, maybe with some brackets and the MT-1029 is bolted to the plate. Sheet metal alone could not hold all the weight of a radio setup without the extensive reinforcing supplied by the mounting plate that's part of the install kit.

the sponson plate for some reason is hard to get in Germany, at least that is my experience. No problem to get it in the States, either used or NOS. Definitely don't bolt the 1029 directly to the fender. The installation material comes with a new sponson plate, what is a little special and otherwise hard to get are the style of the bolts. Hex head, but additionally slotted. But of course any other hardware works.

that's a good hint Jay, the transmission I have right now in my jeep is also from Staman, sourced at Beltring. Richard, they are good guys to deal with, I think : http://www.staman.nl

Thanks a lot for your helpful links and references. What I am missing next to the installation material is exactly that piece of steel, marked red in the pic:

I'll try to contact Staman in The Netherlands. Let us see what they have.

It's easy to fab, just find the right size, cut, drill and paint.

You're right, but for doing this I need the right dimensions. Till today I've seen here in Germany only one jeep with a radio on it and without this piece of metal. So Rick is right, it is missing for many installations.

that support bracket is needed if you put the sponson plate so much forward on the fender as in the manual. That allows enough room for the additional receiver if needed. I have decided to put the radio a little more to the rear as I don't need the receiver, it interferes less with the front seat and more of all much less interference with the ROPS netting

Which radio do you have? Staman answered today and told me that nothing is left from the lot with radio parts.

Left over from being a AN-MRC 83 radio truck. Actually just a big ground connection bolted underneath to the rails. BTW, myself, I can only see the picture entirely when right clicking it and open it in a new tab/window...
