Have a look for Cardo Systems Scala Rider. I must admit they are a little bit expensive but they are getting excellent testings and ratings. The problem is that all Mutts must use the same equipment. And finally with the original VRC or a CB you will go over a longer distance.

Well they are VOX so no mic to fumble with, as far as range I don't know, I never used one of the wireless ones. I would think a quarter mile or so. They are not designed to be long range, basically just a wireless intercom. Ron, I don't need one, can't hear with or without so it makes no difference.
