WTK: Radio info

Unread post by Austringer » March 10th, 2013, 1:37 pm

I have a few radios and I"m trying to figure out which would be the "most" correct for a 1962 M151 in Infantry service.

I have the following radios and all accessories:

1. PRC-10/VRC
2. AN/VRC-53
3. RT-524/VRC with a 422 additional
4. VRC-9

Thoughts?

My opinion? None of the above but the closest combo would be the 524/442 (not 422) The man portable would have been the PRC 25 and 2060 power supply amplifier mounted in the vehicle. The correct combo should have been the PRC-25/2060 by itself or the VRC-RT246/R442 combo used by the artillery and armored units or the RT-524 used alone for infantry.
Rainman should pick up on this eventually and provide more accurate information.

I think ANGRC 4 prc 6 at squad level s and Prc 8 at platoon levels as I recall squad leader had prc 6 models and platoon leaders PRC 8.
GRC 4 believe were the company commanders also had a different radio for battalions frequency.s Thy were able to commo with combat command
