RT-524

Unread post by Sgt.Sam64 » September 3rd, 2013, 12:24 pm

Aug. 8 I bought a RT-524 radio from a seller called Art-in-part. The unit I received was not the one they advertised in ebay. The only truthful statement was that it was used. The dam thing was all beat to hell and was not operational. there are broken and missing parts. I advise all you folks not to bye from them.

First of all, make sure that you leave negative feedback and do not change it back if seller contacts you seeking to resolve the issue if it just seems like they are just trying to cover their asses rather than actually admitting that they made a mistake.

Secondly, if you do end up keeping it and restoring it to operation, I recommend Haney Electronics if you elect to ship it off for service. He does good work, promptly, at fair prices. I have sent a lot of radios to him and never had one come back in anything but tip top operating condition.

Sometimes eBay's "conflict resolution" role can help. I'd try that before leaving ANY feedback.

I take it this is the listing...

Given the high item-price and the large amount of positive feedback the guy has, by all means try contacting the seller first. For what it's worth. I always have a "watch out" on foreign sellers. They're not all shifty, but it adds a good bit of complexity to the exchange.

Also note this in his listing:

"If for any reason you are not satisfied with your purchase please contact us immediately by Email or Phone, before contacting eBay Resolution center / Leaving Feedback !"

Keep in mind that standard demill was to remove modules and sometimes cut wires. This could be a demilled set that nobody ever took apart and checked. Did the ad say it was operational?

It also happen to me when I purchased a NOS m151 flasher arm for my A2 on eBay for $69.00 US,the picture was for a NOS one description was for a NOS part. I paid and received a old rusted one in worse shape than the one I owned. I left bad feedback and asked for the one i had bid on ,said I would return the old one if they would send me the one I had bid on . waited a week with no replie back from the seller . made a clam with eBay and told them I could provide a pic of what was sent to me they investigated and refunded my money from the sellers account  I threw the part in a box of old parts and that is were it is now.

LTDan I want to thank you for trying to help me with this problem. However in trying to resolve this I have tried to talk to a David Gan and he was very abusive and even threatened me with criminal prosecution. I want nothing more to do with that place or him.

This is why I say you need to make sure to leave negative feedback and follow up with Ebay to get your money refunded.

Bad sellers need to be outed so that later on down the road someone else does not end up in the same position.

Having said that, I can equally assure you that bad buyers are at least as big of a problem on Ebay but that's not what we are dealing with today.

Don't let this guy bully you.

Negative feedback, follow through with Ebay. HE pays the shipping back to the middle east and you ship it registered mail only.

I totally agree with you that his treatment of you is wrong and he should be reported to E-Bay. Here is the problem, this is the first two lines of his policy. This is the fine print that you have to watch out for on E-bay. I have not bought anything there in a couple years now after getting burnt several times.

My Policies:

Please note that most items are not Tested so the item condition is unknown and not guaranteed unless described otherwise.

All items are for sale AS ARE !

The good news here is that nobody cares about Mr. fine print and his policy.

Ebay's policy matters.

He listed it as working and it is not. Ebay will refund your money.

They are aware of the fact they had drifted over to the point where people like Rick were avoiding bidding and buying and they reacted by putting in place a very buyer centric system that is not afraid to just plain abuse sellers at the slightest hint of a problem.

Hence why we are starting to see fewer sellers and less stuff of direct interest to us and more Chinese made rubber dog poop stuff.

Rick theese are the last of the ones reworked by the company I worked for.I have more coming from the owner who is now semi retired but still tinkers on them for me.I might say mine sold for a lot less than the 999.00 junk one and mine had a NOS MT1029,NOS cables,NOS headset and NOS mike.Wow guess Im going to have to raise my prices if junk ones are selling for a grand.
